Advanced Packaging Facility

PACTIV
Macon, GA
Scope: Demolition, Design + Construction

O’Neal has served Pactiv plants for more than twenty years at 35 sites across the US. On May 1, 2013, a fire at Pactiv’s Advanced Packaging Solutions plant destroyed most of the 237,000 square foot building. Pactiv turned to O’Neal for a design-build solution to demolish the existing building and design and build a new structure as fast as possible.

O’Neal responded by quickly identifying and engaging local vendors and subcontractors to conduct a forensic engineering analysis and immediately begin the demolition process. O’Neal managed the demolition and removal of the building structure, architectural components, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, equipment and general debris in an expedited manner. Simultaneously, design and preconstruction activities began and close engagement with local authorities allowed Pactiv to begin operations two months early.

The new 160,000 square foot facility was constructed around the salvaged manufacturing lines so schedule could be maintained on these long lead items. O’Neal’s team managed demolition, restoration, design and construction of the egg-carton manufacturing plant on a turn-key basis.
