Research + Development Facility

Research and development facilities require understanding of functional and aesthetic needs. When French based fragrance and flavors firm, Gattefossé, needed a new US-based cosmetics R&D Laboratory, they turned to O’Neal to put together a team that would provide a full turnkey solution. The project involved renovation of space adjacent to existing Gattefossé offices in a three-floor flexible office building.

Because of the fragrance work that would be done in the facility, it was imperative O’Neal designed the use of fume hoods with a dedicated make-up air unit to capture lab air and exhaust outside to prevent odors migrating into other areas of the building. Understanding the client wanted a facility for clients to visit, premium floor, wall, ceiling and casework finishes were selected to accentuate Gattefossé’s message of being an industry leader in the fragrance and flavors industry.​
